It might suprise you to know that the original letter from Santa was written by the popular author J.R.R.Tolkien
Better known for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, between 1920 and 1943 Tolkien personally produced a Santa letter each year, which was delivered to his children
His beautifully illustrated stories captured the children's imaginations with tales of the North Pole and the people who live there including evil goblins, elves, gnomes and the North Polar Bear
The children read how the North Pole came to be snapped in two and how Santa had to defend his home from goblins (a scene reminiscent of of the Goblin-Elf wars in The Lord of the Rings)
Tolkien died in 1973 when the writer of this web page was not even one. Santa's Post hope that by providing this service for a new generation of children, we perpetuate even a small part of the Christmas myth
